A Variety of Classes from Beginner to Advanced

Balance Dance Center offers a variety of classes for children, teens and adults. Explore classes from pre-dance for four year olds to modern dance for advanced dancers and dance movement for adults. The BDC classes offered provides each student with the opportunity to become well rounded and balanced artists.

FALL/SPRING CLASS SCHEDULE

jazz

High energy, popular music, and fun highlight this class as students learn to think fast, move quickly, and explore their own sense of individuality in style. Technique, choreography, strength, and flexibility—the total dancer is nurtured and celebrated. Various styles of jazz dance are explored including, funk, lyrical, and afro-jazz.

modern/lyrical

Modern technique class concentrates on proper alignment, use of breath, quality of structural form, oppositional energy, moving through space, directional changes, fall and recovery, speed and performance quality. Movement concepts are explored through improvisation and original choreography.

hip hop

Learn the foundations of hip hop and incorporate these concepts in fun routines that blend poppin, lockin’, stepping’, top rockin’, breakin’ and krump. Dance to the hottest hip-hop tunes while staying on top of the latest dance moves.

ballet

Focuses on body placement, basic terminology, strength and flexibility. Builds on the fundamental concepts, introduces new terminology and steps, increases complexity of combinations.

pre-dance

The Pre-Dance class is focused on fun, creativity, musicality, and freedom of expression. This class encourages the natural inclination of young dancers to use their imaginations. Young dancers move easily, free of inhibition and the Pre-Dance class celebrates this quality while laying the foundation for the next level.

tap

Students learn to isolate and articulate their feet to produce percussive sounds on the floor in tap shoes. Rhythm, syncopation, and musicality are emphasized in this class.
