Prerna Valecha

Prena Vaecha - BollywoodPrerna has been dancing since she was four years old when her mother saw her dancing alone in a room. In that moment, Prerna’s mother knew that she had to enroll her daughter in dance classes.  Prerna’s dance training began in India where she studied Indian folk dances with Sunita Mazumdar.

As Prerna grew as a performer, she entered several dance competitions including Accenture’s Got Talent in India. In 2008, Prerna won second place, but this only made her more determined to compete again. Prerna returned to win the competition in 2010 after competing against 4,000 people in the month long competition. She won first prize in Indian classical dance.

Prerna’s dance experience also includes participation in inter-college fashion choreography and choreography competitions in India as well as performances in Princeton, NJ. She has been choreographing Bollywood dances for over ten years.

Prerna believes that Bollywood dance is like a rainbow with a mix of jazz, hip-hop, folk dance, Bhangra, and classical Indian dance. When everything comes together, it’s colorful and beautiful. Bollywood dance brings the world together. Dancing is Prerna’s passion and she is excited to share her love of dance and culture with her students.
